Our exotic finishes are some of our most beautiful and unique finishes that we offer here at The Furniture Guild. They are sourced from things like reclaimed rail road ties and exotic woods that make them special and down right stunning. However, due to their exotic nature, these finishes need to be carefully considered before you decide to put one on your vanity. There are things like color variation, grain patter and texture, and other oddities like naturally occurring splits and cracks that need to be taken into account before choosing one of these gorgeous finishes.
To help you understand the nature of these finishes so you can make an informed decision, we’ve broken down all seven of our exotic finishes to explain what makes them unique and provided pictures so you can see how they will look on your vanity. To begin with, we’re starting with one of our most unique finishes, Rosewood.
B18 Rosewood
Rosewood is one of our most exotic finishes. This species of wood is native to South America and is naturally fragrant as well as densely cored. But what is important to note about this gorgeous finish is it’s color. Or should we say colors. Rosewood has a very wide color variation, ranging from pale yellow to dark red/brown. Each piece is incredibly unique and varied. Some pieces can be very dark with subtle changes between a rich reddish brown to a slightly lighter gold coloring while others can be dramatic shifts from dark to light. Before choosing this finish for your vanity it is important to understand just how varied this wood can be. Take a look at these vanities to see all the different color and texture variations Rosewood can have.
B38 Quartered Walnut
Quarter Walnut is our ‘tame’ exotic finish because of its super straight grain pattern and consistent color. This finish has a warm color that varies from light brown to dark brown that sit side by side in the tightly packed grain pattern. Because the color variation is not nearly as drastic as Rosewood , most of the samples and pictures of this finish are relatively close to one another however, it doesn’t hurt to see what it looks like on one of our vanities.
B40 Natural Walnut
Our Natural Walnut finish is one of our most popular finishes and it’s not hard to see why. This finish is hands down, beautiful. But it’s color variation is something to note before purchasing. The coloring of Natural Walnut shifts between a natural blonde and rich chocolate brown. Along with the transitions in color, the grain orientation changes from piece to piece giving it a unique look that almost looks like your vanity has been carved right from a walnut tree. Take a look at these vanities featuring our Natural Walnut finish.
B47 Grey Reclaimed Oak
Whereas our Rosewood and Natural Walnut finishes have a varied coloration that needs to be noted our Reclaimed Oak finishes have a more unique feature to be aware of. Our Grey Reclaimed Oak is a beautiful grey wood that has been sourced from Belgian railroad ties. It features natural cracks and splits that give it a charming old, worked wood feel. Each panel of this finish is one of a kind. Here are some vanities finished in Grey Reclaimed Oak:
B48 Clear Reclaimed Oak
Like Grey Reclaimed Oak, our Clear Reclaimed Oak features the same sporadic and unpredictable cracking and splitting in the wood. It is slightly more apparent in this version of our Reclaimed Oak finishes because of the light, natural oak color and clear coat. The cracks, splits, and knots are much more visible against the lighter finish but it also gives the wood a more modern touch. Check out these photos to see what Clear Reclaimed Oak looks like on our vanities.
B49 Natural Reclaimed Oak
Our last exotic finish is Natural Reclaimed Oak and acts as a bridge between Grey and Clear Reclaimed Oak. It is darker in color and has a dry natural texture as well as the hallmark cracks and splits that come with a Reclaimed Oak finish. This is a rustic looking finish that is sure to wow anyone who sees it but you need to be aware that like all of our Reclaimed Oak finishes, there are unique properties (knots, cracks, and splits) that are unavoidable. Take a look at some of our vanities finished in Natural Reclaimed Oak.
As you can see these finishes are some of our most beautiful and unique finishes. But their uniqueness leads to some important things to consider before deciding to choose them for your vanity. Try out these finishes on our configurator to see if they would work for you!
